giftsHanukah, Christmas and Kwanza are celebrated  around the time of the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. At this holiday season, I am pleased to announce the opening of my new online store, Designed in Israel, where you can buy products (like calendars and notecards) that include images of my photographs and artwork. As far as I know I am the only Israel guide that has an online store. Check it out at www.cafepress.com/israeldesigned and please share with your friends.

Leave a comment about your shopping experience and let me know about other photographs or products that you would be interested in.

Someone contacted me disappointed that there are no captions identifying the photos in the wall calendars. Unfortunately, there is no provision for adding that in CafePress. As the next best solution, I have listed them here:

Cover: Petrified trees in the Large Makhtesh
Jan: Excavations at Bet Shean showing the destruction caused by the earthquake of 749CE.
Feb: Sea, Salt and Sky, at Dead Sea
Mar: Hiking in Nahal Peratzim, across from Dead Sea
Apr: Jordan River at Kfar Blum
May: Dolmens, monolithic tombs at Gamla reserve
Jun: St George monastery on cliff in Wadi Qelt
Jul: Water pouring from aqueduct at Ein Mabua, Wadi Qelt
Aug: Sinkholes at Dead Sea near Ein Gedi
Sep: Walled city of Gamla destroyed by Vespasian and Titus in 66CE on their way to Jerusalem
Oct: Granite mountains and Acacia trees at Nahal Shehoret in Arava
Nov: Natural sculpture on cliff above Nahal David at Ein Gedi
Dec: Ruins at Lower Herodium excavated by Prof. Netzer
I have even prepared a live Google map showing the locations at http://goo.gl/maps/ShtDR
